Biochar and composting plants
We turn crop residues and organic waste into high-value soil improvers. We design composting plants and biochar production plants, and integrate them to close the organic matter cycle.
Closing the organic matter cycle
Composting turns organic waste (pruning and crop residues, manure, agri-food by-products) into a stable soil improver. Biochar is a carbon-rich material produced by pyrolysis of biomass: it improves soil structure and water retention and locks up carbon for the long term.
Together, they make it possible to recover agricultural waste, produce higher-quality substrates and soil improvers, and reduce the farm's carbon footprint. We design these plants around the available waste and the product you want to sell.
What we design
Composting plants
Reception, shredding, windrows or composting tunnels, maturation, screening, and leachate and odour control.Biochar production
Biomass preparation and drying, pyrolysis reactor, heat recovery and safe product handling.Integration into substrates
Use of compost and biochar as components of substrates and soil improvers.Permitting
Environmental and waste management authorisations, and fertilising product requirements.
Frequently asked questions
What is biochar?
It is charcoal produced by pyrolysis (heating without oxygen) of biomass, intended for agricultural use. It improves soil structure and its ability to retain water and nutrients, and stores carbon for a long time.
What is the difference between compost and biochar?
Compost is organic matter stabilised by microorganisms that adds nutrients and life to the soil. Biochar is highly stable carbon that improves structure and acts as a carrier. Used together, they complement each other.
