The use of CBD products poses no risk, nor any significant adverse effects or side effects for our pets. These products are non-psychoactive and do not induce addiction in the animal.

Conventional veterinary medications negatively impact the immune and digestive systems, causing harm to the liver and kidneys. Veterinary medicine has developed more effective treatments and medications.

CBD acts in mammals through the endocannabinoid system, and animals have one very similar to humans. The appropriate dosage will depend on the size of your pet, based on the animal’s weight. The CBD oil is the same, but a specific dosage is administered based on the size.

Cannabidiol oil can be broad-spectrum, full-spectrum, or isolated, depending on the additional quality cannabinoids present besides CBD. The classification is based on the natural substances combined with CBD and the amount of THC it contains (by law, in Spain, it cannot exceed 0.3%).

How do phytocannabinoids work?

Phytocannabinoids are responsible for stimulating the endocannabinoid system. Upon entering the body, they activate two receptors (CB1 and CB2) to regulate various aspects of the central nervous system, peripheral system, immune system, and other organs.

These receptors influence various physiological processes such as inflammation, anxiety and stress management, learning, mobility, nausea and vomiting control, appetite, emotions, aging, dermatological issues, and allergies.

Therefore, the proven benefits of CBD in humans have extended to the treatment of pets, primarily to alleviate pain.

For which animal pathologies is CBD useful?

  • Epilepsy: reduces the frequency/severity of seizures or eliminates them altogether.
  • Inflammation: reduces the production of substances that cause inflammation and allergies, both in the skin and throughout the body.
  • Pain: acts on joints and/or tissues, relieving chronic pain.
  • Nausea: eliminates nausea and increases appetite.
  • Aids in maintaining the nervous system and protects it from degenerative diseases.
  • May help in cases of anxiety.
  • Skin problems.

Cannabis formats for pets: CBD oil

The most commonly used formats in veterinary medicine are CBD oil and treats with hemp oil. The best option is the liquid oil due to the ease of calculating the prescribed dose and the speed of absorption of the active components.

To eliminate the psychoactive effects of cannabis, manufacturers produce CBD oil using hemp extract, which is rich in cannabidiol and has low concentrations of THC.

The CBD for pets undergoes its own manufacturing process, allowing manufacturers to eliminate components that could be harmful to the animals’ bodies; substances that do not affect humans.

How to administer CBD oil to your pet?

The optimal method is to administer CBD oil directly into the animal’s mouth, ensuring the complete intake of the prescribed dose. Moreover, it will be absorbed through the oral mucosa and take effect more quickly.

If the animal rejects it, you can administer it by adding the dose to a treat or a small amount of wet food.

Each animal may respond differently, so it is advisable to start with the lowest dose and lower concentration, gradually increasing until the desired effect is achieved.
